volleyballlogoFive Lady Jacket players were recognized this weekend at their annual post-season banquet as the Howard Payne volleyball program handed out their season team awards.

The volleyball program held their annual volleyball banquet on Sunday, November 25th in the Mabee University on the Howard Payne campus. End of the year awards were given out for Newcomer of the Year, Most Improved Player, Best Offensive Player, Best Defensive Player, Most Valuable Teammate, Most Inspirational Player and the Yellow Jacket Award.

Newcomer of the Year:  Allyson Reed

Allyson played in 23 matches for HPU and was second on the team in assists with 307 (3.74 per set). She also had 114 digs and 11 service aces.

Most Improved Player:  Tolli Wylie

Tolli played in 25 matches for the Lady Jackets recording 66 kills, 22 digs and 32 total blocks.

Best Offensive Player:  Hannah Hicks

Hannah had career best numbers this season in total kills (222), kills/set (2.34), points (292), attack % (.221), total blocks (110) and blocks/set (1.16).  She finished the season ranked #22 in the nation in blocks/set.  She also had the 2nd best single season performance in block assists and 6th best single season performance in total blocks in program history. With the addition of this season’s stats she now is ranked in the following career categories: 3rd in total block assists, 4th in total block solos, 3rd in total blocks and 7th in blocks/set.

Best Defensive Player & Most Valuable Teammate:  Shelby Bridges

Shelby had career best numbers this season in total aces (35) and digs (445).  She also had the 4th best single season performance in total digs and tied the 2nd best single season performance in digs/set.  With the addition of this season’s stats, she now is ranked in the following career categories: tied for 15th in aces/set average and 7th all-time in digs/set average.

Most Inspirational Player & Yellow Jacket Award:  Carlee Ammons

She is the only 3-time Yellow Jacket Award recipient in Ken Carver’s time as the head coach. She played in 23 matches recording 85 kills and 30 total blocks.
