The 2011 Heartland Rod Run at Riverside Park on Saturday attracted a large crowd of car enthusiasts, collectors, and those just looking to have some fun.
The annual event, hosted by local car club the Heartland Cruisers, featured about 400 cars, trucks, motorcycles, and antique tractors of all kinds and ages. There were also plenty of fun activities including the exciting burnout contest and panty dash. The burnout contest drew a large crowd of spectators who wanted to see vehicles “smoke out” the competition. See videos below of several entries in the contest.
The Heartland Cruisers distributed numerous awards for the most popular cars, trucks, tractors, and motorcycles along with the best cars in the show by category.
This year’s overall Best of Show trophy, sponsored by Bruner Auto Group, went to Bob Brandt of Lubbock, Texas for his 1970 Dodge Challenger (pictured above with his trophy).

The Heartland Cruisers said that this year’s show was the best and biggest yet, drawing not only the biggest number of entries in the four years of the show, but even higher quality vehicles. Organizers said that several of the vehicles were worth well over $100,000.
This year’s show was topped off with a concert by Johnny Dee & the Rocket 88s at the Brownwood Coliseum Saturday night.
