SringAwardsJohnsonBrownwood High School held their annual sports awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 24 honoring their athletes.  Awards and recognitions were presented for non-football sports for the year.

BISD Athletic Director and Lions Head Coach Bob Shipley started the event by outlining the importance of competition, but not just related to sports.

“Competition is the spirit of life,” Shipley said.

The event was kicked off with the presentation of the U. S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete of the Year award.  United States Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award recognizes high school students throughout the nation who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in both academics and athletics.

Since the program began in 1981, the National Scholar/Athlete Award has been presented to more than 235,000 well-deserving students nationwide.  One male and female student is selected each year for this award based on their outstanding achievements in both academics and athletics.

This year’s recipients are Cade Johnson and Kinsey Johnson (pictured above).
