Music, marching skill and school spirit was what it was all about Saturday as 24 high schools bands came to compete at the Region VII Marching Contest in Brady.
Brownwood, Early and Bangs High Schools all received Division I ratings at the competition. Trophies were awarded to each of the top schools.
Early and Bangs High Schools will advance to the area round of UIL competition on October 29th.
The competition was hosted by Brady ISD, Brady Band Boosters and Brady Bulldogs Band. Judges were Greg Goodman of Austin, Mike Lewis of Burnet and Cindy Mikel of San Antonio. The contest began at 9:30am and lasted through 5:45pm as bands from class 1A, 2A and 3A schools performed.
Ratings of 1A, 2A and 3A schools are as follows:
Division I Rating
- 1A – Mason, Menard, Irion County,
- 2A – Wall, Ballinger, Bangs, Early, Sonora, Junction and Brady
- 3A – Brownwood and Llano
Division II Rating
- 1A – Eldorado, Santa Anna, DeLeon, Winters, Bronte, Rising Star
- 2A – Coleman and San Saba
Division III Rating
- 1A – Eden, Miles, Cross Plains
Division IV Rating
- 1A – May
