Four girls are seeking the title of Miss Brown County Fair Association for 2010, and one of these contestants will be crowned during the Brown County Youth Fair on Saturday, Jan. 9.

The contestants are as follows in random order:

1CourtneyMurrayCourtney Murray is a senior at Brownwood High School and is representing the Brownwood FFA.  Her parents are Tim and Kim Murray and Alicia and David Newman.  She is the granddaughter of Braunette and the late James Murray, Byron and Clydene Olson, and Lewie and the late Peggy Newman.

Courtney has been a member of Brown County 4-H, the Brownwood FFA chapter, National Honor Society, Choices, and the Brownwood varsity volleyball and softball teams.  She participated in 4-H for three years and has been a member of FFA for three years.  Participation included the 4-H Dog Project, showing goats, lambs and horses.  She has competed on the Horse Judging, Sr. Chapter Conducting, and Quiz teams, and is currently serving as the chapter treasurer.

Courtney has attended the Area IV Leadership Camp and the State FFA Convention.  As a member of the National Honor Society she has been elected to participate in Choices for the second year.  An active member of the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, Courtney assists with Vacation Bible School and other youth activities.  After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and will major in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.  Her ultimate goal is to become a Physical Therapist.

1RichelleHairRichelle Hair is the daughter of Tully and Donna Hair of Early.  Her grandparents are Tinker and Lill Hair and Burl and Linda Gifford.  She is representing the Early 4-H, FCCLA, and FFA.

Richelle has been involved with the Brown County Youth Fair since she was in third grade.  She exhibits goats and rabbits, and enters every division of the home economics contest.  Throughout the years Richelle has won Grand and Reserve Champion Food, Reserve Champion Crafts, Top Model in the Style Show, and Reserve Champion Rabbit.  She has long dreamt of becoming the Youth Fair Queen.

A junior at Early High School, Richelle serves as the Junior Class President and is a member of the Student Council, 4-H, Early FCCLA, Heartland Mall Teen Board, and Brownwood Regional Medical Center Junior Volunteers.  During her high school career Richelle has been a member of the Belles Dance Team, the mascot, a varsity cheerleader, UIL participant, and Key club member.  She is currently coaching gymnastics at Seals Gym in Early.   After graduation she plans to attend Tarleton or Texas Tech to pursue a B.S. degree in Nursing.  Richelle and her family are members of the Early First Baptist Church.

1DanielleLeeAnnDenbowDanielle Denbow is a junior at Bangs High School and represents the Bangs FFA.  Her parents are Freddie and Danette Denbow, and her grandparents are Dan and Janet Bolton of Brownwood.

Danielle’s projects in the Youth Fair are numerous.  She began showing in third grade and has shown market goats, lambs, steers and horses.  She has received both junior and senior Showmanship awards with her goats, and has won Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Mare several times.  Last year she was on the horse judging team that qualified for state.

At Bangs High School, Danielle has been a varsity cheerleader, member of the varsity basketball and track teams.  Last year she was honored by being selected to the Academic All District Team as well as 2nd Team All District.  She was a member of the 800 meter and sprint relay teams that won district and competed at regional and then at the State meet in Austin.  She is also a member of FFA, NHS, the horse judging team and a member of the Texas High School Rodeo Circuit.  She competes in barrel racing, breakaway roping and team roping as a heeler.

Danielle is a member of the Coleman County Cowgirls, a group that performs nightly routines horseback at the Coleman PRCA Rodeo in June.  This past summer the group sponsored a special rodeo for disabled and less fortunate children in the area.  The group was also asked to perform two nights at the Brown County PRCA Rodeo.

1PeytonPittmanPeyton Pittman is the daughter of Randy and Meichele Pittman of May.  She is the granddaughter of the late R.V. and Alene Pittman of Owens and the late Kenneth and Olene Wise of Brownwood.  Peyton is representing the May 4-H, FFA, and the Brown County Rabbit Club.  She is a junior at May High School.

Peyton has been showing rabbits at the Brown County Fair since third grade.  She has shown the Grand Champion Breeding  Rabbit numerous times.  In addition to rabbits, she participates in the cooking division of the Youth Fair.

At May High School, Peyton runs track, cross country and is a member of the basketball team.  She enjoys being an active member of FFA and is currently serving on the Brown County 4-H Council.  In addition, she serves as the Vice-President of the Brown County Rabbit Club.
