paradearticlepicThe annual Lighted Christmas Parade was held Friday night in downtown Brownwood with huge crowds coming out and braving the cold weather.

This year’s parade theme was “The Spirit of Christmas” and was sponsored for the first time by Southside Church.

Although the parade did start off a bit late, it was well worth the wait as more than 100 participants showed off their beautifully decorated floats and vehicles in the parade.

After it was all over Eric Evans, Pastor of Worship and Administration at Southside Church felt it was a success, but was relieved that it was over and is already thinking of ways to improve for next year.

“We had about 50 volunteers, but we probably needed another 30 or so,” Evans said.  “We will know for next year.”

Many comments from spectators on the street were of appreciation at all of the hard work that went into making the parade a success.

One woman watching the parade on Center Avenue said, “We love coming out here every year and wouldn’t miss it.  If they could make it just a touch warmer would be perfect.”
