Brown County emergency responders were called to the area of Highway 183 South near Country Road 318 early Monday morning where an 18-wheeler flipped over.
Shortly after 6:00 a.m., the semi-truck and flat bed trailer crashed at the beginning of the construction zone in the area. The accident caused the rig’s cab to flip onto its side and the trailer to flip completely upside down. The load it was carrying spilled into the bar ditch.
The truck appeared to be traveling north on the highway at the time of the accident and landed partially off the roadway. Responders limited traffic flow to a single lane for almost two hours because of the wreckage and construction in the area.
The driver was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room, the extent of his injuries were not reported at the time of the accident; however, he was conscious and was reported to have been out of the rig walking around as responders arrived.
The cause of the accident was not released on scene. Heavy fog was present and visibility was low.
A heavy-duty wrecker was called to the scene to upright the rig and clear the scene.
Early Police Department, Early Volunteer Fire Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Guardian EMS responded to the scene.
