Artists from around the state of Texas came to the Depot Civic and Cultural Center on Saturday with a variety of entries for the 16th Annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit.
This year, 126 artists from the local area to cities as far away as Katy and Corpus Christi brought a total of 257 entries this year according to organizers. Juror Benito Huerta viewed and carefully selected 144 pieces for the exhibit.Organizers state that the quality and variety of the pieces were impressive.
“There were a lot of good pieces,” said exhibit volunteer Christopher Gaston, “I think it is going to be a good show.” Gaston himself entered two pieces, one of which was selected as a part of the exhibit.
The exhibit itself will open to the public February 2nd through 15th at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood beginning with the opening reception on February 1st.
The Salon des Refusés will open once again to artists to display their works that do not make the 2014 Stars of Texas Exhibit and will be held at the Art Center which is located at 215 Fisk Avenue. The Salon des Refusés will be open from February 2nd through 14th.
